The misconception about what your child knows
Your baby and you are energetically connected through chakra cords. In this mini-course you can read more about how this works and find the related blogs. Your chakra cords and your aura unconsciously pass on information to your little one. Your little one has a direct connection to your emotions, thoughts, experiences and feelings. In this blog I write more about the influence this has on your little one and the misconceptions many mothers hold. From age seven onward, this connection changes, and so does the bond with your child.
What does your child know before you tell them?
I often hear adults say they don't want to share certain information with their child because they're "still too young for it." Because of the energetic connection, young children are already unconsciously aware of everything. Sometimes they don't fully understand the information, but they do know that something is going on.
In difficult situations, young children can often tell me clearly what they want. They're flexible and can handle quite difficult or intense situations, as long as you're honest and talk to them. If you hide something or lie about it, you lose part of your child's respect. She then realizes she can never fully trust you. Once your child has "learned" this and embraced it as truth, there's a chance it will remain her belief for the rest of her life.
Being honest about a difficult situation matters: your child already knows the truth energetically — she's just confused about why you don't want to acknowledge it out loud. This creates a gap between what she intuitively knows and what she's told is reality.
Your emotions as the foundation for your little one's behaviorA child develops in cycles. This part is about the first cycle of the seven-year cycle. During the first cycle, your child builds the foundation for her life. You've just read that during this phase children are energetically connected to their mother. Your little one is therefore in direct contact with your feelings, thoughts and emotions. In this first phase of life, you are the most important person in her life. Your feelings, thoughts and emotions are therefore important building blocks she uses for her foundation.
So your child builds her foundation with your traumas, fears, pain and sorrow too. But fortunately also with your strength, love and self-confidence.
This is both confronting and empowering. You cannot give your child what you don't have yourself. If you carry unprocessed trauma with you, your child builds with that. If you're full of self-doubt, your child absorbs that too. But the reverse is just as true: every step you take toward your own healing, every moment you choose love over fear, every time you practice self-compassion — your child receives all of it as building material for her foundation.
How a mother's experiences may affect the next generation
For mothers, it can sometimes be quite hard to be only positive in the period right after birth. As a mother you may struggle with a changed identity, exhaustion, and possibly postnatal depression too. Accept this, don't feel guilty: you're doing your best to be a good mother.
The misconception many mothers and coaches make is that your child's behavior is entirely determined by your behavior, emotions and experiences. Fortunately, that isn't true. Children can handle quite a bit. And besides, children have their own developmental points and karmic lessons to learn.
Because of your connection, your reaction does influence how safe your little one feels and how she's able to express herself and develop. By looking at things differently yourself, your little one gets different opportunities.
The mother-daughter line and inherited experiences
Every woman carries traumas within her. This includes traumas in your women's line — there's a good chance there's a lot of emotion stored there too. By processing traumas and grief, you give yourself the chance to gain as much self-confidence as possible. If this doesn't happen before pregnancy, it's best to do it as soon as possible within your child's first seven years.
But keep in mind, it's also okay if you're unstable or emotional and carry traumas. Your child's love for you is enormous and can overcome this. The misconception here is that mothers feel guilty — that isn't necessary. You are good enough as you are. When it's time to let things go, you'll feel it naturally. Ultimately, we're growing toward a generation of daughters whose women's line is fully healed. These daughters will then truly be able to grow up carefree and in their power.
