What changes when your child turns seven years?

Wisdom Course

Welcome to this free wisdom course

Every seven years, your child literally becomes a new person, down to the cellular level. Around the seventh year in particular, something essential shifts: the energetic bond that has connected you both since her birth changes form, and this is where the biggest change in behavior, emotions, and development shows up.

In this lesson, you'll discover how the seven-year cycle shapes your child, how the energetic bond between you worked in these first years, what happens when she lets go of it, and what this all means for who she becomes.

What children told me

What changes when your child turns seven?

Seven is an important year for all children. Every child develops in cycles of seven years, so at seven years your child will complete one cycle and grow into the second cycle. One important thing happens during this cycle: their natural existing bond with their mother will be released. They let go their most important communication and learning tool. At seven, a child will be for the first time on their own.

As said, every child develops in cycles of seven years: the first running from birth to age seven, the second from seven to fourteen, and so on. It's no coincidence that after seven years, every cell in the body has renewed itself. Cells carry a cellular memory with them — at the close of each phase, the memories of that period are stored in the body, so your child carries all the knowledge and experience of one phase into the next.

Each cycle corresponds to a chakra. The first cycle (0–7 years) belongs to the root chakra: safety, basic needs, and belonging. Your child is answering fundamental questions like "am I safe?" and "am I loved?", and everything experienced in these years becomes the foundation for everything that follows.

The second cycle (7–14 years) belongs to the sacral chakra: emotions, feelings, and first crushes. Your child now learns to separate their own feelings from their parents' — "this is MY feeling, not yours" — and begins developing their own emotional palette.

Each cycle carries its own themes and lessons, unique to every child. Ideally, your child learns these lessons in the phase they're meant for. But when the intended development clashes with the beliefs of parents or society, the child gets blocked — and the soul carries the lesson forward into the next cycle. Because body and mind have grown stronger and more capable by then, the lesson returns heavier: what was simply testing boundaries in the first cycle can, by the second or third cycle, turn into breaking rules or risk-taking behavior.

Especially in the transition years (6, 7, 8; 13, 14, 15; 20, 21, 22), a great deal shifts: your child is closing one phase while opening the next, and this can feel turbulent. The end of the first cycle is especially significant: around age seven, your child energetically detaches from your aura and, for the first time in their life, stands on their own. This can noticeably shift your child's personality and behavior, sometimes seemingly overnight.

The energetic cord between you and your child

This may sound very odd, but the truth is there. From birth until around their seventh year, your child remains energetically connected to you (their mother) through chakra cords linking your auras together. Distance rarely breaks this: whether your child is in the next room or far away, the connection holds. Only prolonged emotional distance, or truly significant physical distance, will lead a child to form their primary bond with someone else instead. This connection also works through the body: when your child is sick, they heal faster within your aura, and when they're flooded with emotion, you often feel it in your own body too — sometimes without realizing it isn't your feeling at all, but theirs.

Your aura and your child's also exchange information with each other. During these first seven years, thoughts, emotions, and even physical sensations pass automatically in both directions. This is how a baby signals hunger or thirst before she has words for it. And it's how she reaches you when something is truly wrong: many mothers experience this as "a gut feeling" or intuition, when in reality it's the energetic connection doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Around the seventh year, your child releases the chakra cord that binds her to your aura. It marks the end of the first seven-year cycle and the beginning of the second — and for the first time, she has an aura strong enough to carry and protect itself. In some children this happens almost overnight; in others, gradually, as the connection grows steadily thinner. The bond doesn't disappear afterward — it transforms into something new. This is the moment your child truly begins building her own identity, separate from yours.

Everything your child carries into independence, she built during these first seven years — with the building blocks you gave her. Your fears and unhealed pain, but also your strength, your love, and your self-confidence: all of it became part of her foundation. Every piece of healing you move through, then, becomes something she gets to build with too. The stronger and more healed you become, the stronger the foundation she carries with her the moment she lets go.

Make it your own

At this point, we can only advise you to take into account that your child can change at the age of seven, and so can you. Please, if your child is changing, understand that this is natural. It can sometimes come with high emotions. Our only advice is to adapt quickly to the new personality of your child.

Frequently asked question

What changes when a child turns seven?

Around the age of seven, a child enters a new developmental phase. In the seven-year cycle described in this Wisdom Course, the first cycle from birth to seven comes to an end and the second cycle, from seven to fourteen, begins. The energetic bond that has connected her to you since birth changes form, and she becomes energetically independent for the first time. This transition can be reflected in changes in your child's personality, emotions, behaviour and growing sense of independence.

Why is the age of seven so important for a child?

Seven marks the transition between two seven-year cycles. The first cycle focuses on building a foundation of safety, belonging and basic needs, while the second cycle brings more focus to emotions, individuality and identity. The transition can therefore be an important moment in your child's development.

And being independent from the energetic bound means for your child that she's for the first time energetically on her own, so her personality can finaly show without any adaption.

Does a child's personality change around age seven?

Some parents notice significant changes around the age of six, seven or eight. A child may become more independent, develop different interests, express emotions differently or seem to have a somewhat different personality. Sometimes this happens overnight.

Does the bond between a mother and child change at seven?

The strong energetic connection between mother and child changes around the seventh year. Your child releases the cord that binds her to your aura and begins building her own, separate identity — but the connection continues in a different form.

What is the energetic connection between mother and child?

From birth until around age seven, your child stays connected to you through chakra cords linking your auras. This connection is described as a way in which emotions, sensations and information can be experienced between mother and child, even when they are not physically together — which is often what mothers experience as "intuition" or a "gut feeling."

How does my own healing affect my child?

Everything your child carries into independence — including your unhealed pain, but also your strength and self-confidence — becomes part of her foundation. The more healing you move through, the stronger the foundation she carries with her.

What happens to the mother-child connection after age seven?

The connection is not considered to disappear. Instead, it changes as the child develops a stronger sense of individuality and becomes more emotionally independent. The relationship can gradually move from a highly connected early-childhood bond toward a relationship between two increasingly separate individuals.

Does my child's life path change at age seven?

A child's life path doesn't suddenly changes at seven. Rather, the transition marks a new phase in which your child can express more of their own identity and development. Each cycle builds on what came before, so the experiences of the first seven years become part of the foundation for the next stage.

What is the seven-year cycle in child development?

The seven-year cycle describes development in phases of approximately seven years: 0–7, 7–14, 14–21 and so on. Each phase has its own themes and developmental lessons. The first seven years form the foundation for the following phases, while the second cycle brings new experiences around emotions, identity and independence.

What happens if a lesson isn't learned in one cycle?

If a lesson meant for one seven-year cycle gets blocked — often by beliefs from parents or society — it carries into the next cycle. Because your child is stronger and more capable by then, the same lesson tends to return heavier, for example as risk-taking behavior instead of simple boundary-testing.

What is the second seven-year cycle from age seven to fourteen about?

The second cycle, from approximately seven to fourteen years, is associated in this course with emotions, feelings and identity. Children begin to discover more clearly what belongs to them and what belongs to others, including the difference between their own feelings and the feelings of their parents.

What does the seven-year cycle have to do with chakras?

This Wisdom Course connects each seven-year phase with a chakra. The first cycle, from birth to seven, is associated with the root chakra and themes such as safety, belonging and foundation. The second cycle, from seven to fourteen, is associated with the sacral chakra and themes such as emotions, feelings and developing identity.

What are the transition years in a child's development?

The transition years are described as approximately ages 6–8, 13–15 and 20–22. These periods mark the transition between major seven-year cycles and can be times when children experience noticeable changes in behaviour, emotions, interests or identity.

Is every child the same when they turn seven?

No. Every child has their own personality, experiences, talents and developmental path. The seven-year cycle is presented as a framework for understanding broader developmental phases, not as a prediction of exactly how every child will behave.

Can things from the first seven years affect a child's later life?

Experiences from the first seven years form an important foundation for later development. What a child learns, experiences and carries emotionally during this period can influence how they approach later phases of life.

How can I support my child when they turn seven?

The most important thing is to allow your child to develop their own identity while continuing to offer safety, love and connection. Observe what is changing rather than immediately trying to correct it. Understanding the developmental phase your child is entering can help you respond with more awareness and less resistance.
