What is the female lineage?
The female lineage is the invisible energetic and physical connection between generations of women within one family. Through energetic patterns, the women of a family are connected with each other, so they feel each other's pain, love and strength. Character traits, patterns, experiences, trauma and karmic lessons are passed on to each new daughter, for up to seven generations.
You can see it as a blueprint. The blueprint used to build your mother's temple is also used for the temple of her new daughter, with small adjustments for what the new daughter needs. There is also a male lineage, which passes from fathers to sons in the same way. You inherit from your father too.
How your female lineage is passed on
The physical inheritance takes place during pregnancy, through cellular memory. Every cell has its own memory and remembers what happens in its "life". All your experiences and emotions are stored in your body: in your gut, your muscles and your heart. The more intense the emotion or belief, the more firmly it is anchored in your cells.
For nine months, a baby is nourished with substances that carry the experiences, emotions, trauma, moments of happiness, norms, values and physical complaints of her mother. And there is something special: when a woman is pregnant with a girl, the egg cells of her daughter already develop in the womb. This means that your daughter carries the story of you, your mother, her mother and her mother.
Why the female lineage is important
The degree to which your mother and grandmothers felt and gave love, lived in their power, felt safe, led their own lives or were creative shapes how you experience life. It shapes the way you look at the world, and partly your health. Foremothers who grew up safely, with a lot of love and room to develop, built a beautiful, radiant temple. That blueprint helps you grow up in your power.
Pain also stays in the body of a woman. A woman who inherits pain in her female lineage expresses it, both physically and mentally. Through generations, we have started to confuse these expressions of pain with normal female behavior. Complaining, gossiping or distrust are in truth the stress behavior of women who carry too much pain.
Women from a happy female lineage are wise. They give advice, make decisions and lead others. They live independently and value connection with others. They speak from their intuition, heart and feelings, and they help other people.
Inherited with a purpose
Trauma, karmic lessons, energetic contracts and family patterns are passed on through the female lineage with a purpose: so that they can be processed. You end up in the same situation as your mother or grandmother, and you receive the chance to make a different choice.
When you process a trauma or karmic lesson, you can change the lives of seven generations. You even influence the energy of women who have passed away, because time and dimensions are relative in the universe. By changing or acknowledging their story, you change their energy too.
Your place in the line
When you become a mother, your position in the female lineage changes. You are no longer the youngest generation. You change from a receiver of family patterns into both a receiver and a giver. You carry the responsibility to continue what is good, and to change what you would like to see differently. Your brain is programmed to react the way your mother did, because that is the example you know. By becoming aware of this, you can consciously choose your own way.
Make it your own:
Healing generational trauma
Map your female lineage
Write down the names of your great-grandmother, your grandmother, your mother and yourself. Next to each name, write what you know about her life: her love, her strength, her pain and the choices she was able to make. Which patterns do you recognize?
Choose what you take with you
Decide which experiences and emotions you would like to leave behind, and which you want to take with you. You release pain by deciding at soul level that you are ready to let it go. You accept that it happened, and you forgive the other person and yourself. You honor what happened and choose a better future for yourself and your children.
Honor their love
It is up to our generation to heal the pain in the female lineage and to honor all the love our foremothers experienced. Their stories are part of your identity. They are stories worth telling.
Connect with your foremothers
In meditation, their energy is tangible. You can feel their strength and love, and ask them for help. You will notice that many women are very different from how they behaved during their lives, so always speak about them with love.
Heal before you pass it on
Are you planning to become pregnant, or are you pregnant? This is a beautiful moment to heal yourself first. The more pain you release, the more openly and happily you connect with your children.
