Why so many women feel insecure
Why so many women feel insecure
Because you are a woman, you will notice that many people expect something of you, or above all, have an opinion about you. Go left, and they say you should have gone right. Jump high, and that isn't good either. Jump low the next time, and you didn't try hard enough. Criticism is one of the easiest ways to gain power over someone and make yourself look better.
Insecurity is also an earning model. Many companies send women one basic message: "With my product, you are better." Their marketing shows standards for women that nobody can meet. Because of the sheer amount of these messages, that impossible standard has become the expectation of many men and women. Your insecurity was taught to you, and what was taught can be unlearned.
Insecurity can also be passed on through your female lineage. Women of earlier generations learned that their boundaries were unimportant and that their opinion did not count. That pain still echoes in many women today.
Release the expectations of others
You may let go of those expectations and opinions. In fact, you need to. They cost you a huge amount of energy and hold you back. Only you know your path. Deep inside, you know whether you are making a good choice. Your intuition is often flawless. You can feel your own boundaries and you know which choices are right for you. So choose your own path, just as every other woman may choose hers.
Criticism will come. As soon as you differ from someone's image of how a woman should be, they will often try to make you fit that image. Try to laugh about it. Criticism usually says more about the person who gives it than about you. It reflects their own fear, insecurity or pain. The more you stand in your power, and the more clearly you express who you are and what you stand for, the less criticism affects you.
Everything you need is already within you
Your soul carries all the talents and skills she needs for this life from the moment of birth. When people tell you that you can't do something, they usually mean that they can't do it themselves. It says nothing about your possibilities. Look at what you can do, find a place where you fit, and surround yourself with people who believe in you.
Sometimes you lose your belief in yourself. That is normal. These phases are meant to bring you back to yourself. Somewhere in the mist of your soul, your strengths lie hidden. You find them again through connection: in nature, in silence, in meditation, or in the loving eyes of another soul.
Words that make you stronger
Every word you speak or think carries a vibration that influences your energy. As girls, many of us heard different words than boys: be sweet, be quiet, be careful. These subtle differences continue into adult life and make it harder for women to fully develop.
You can change this. Always say what you want to achieve, as concretely as possible. When you notice an old belief, say clearly: "I was taught that I can't do this. I can do this. I am going to do this." Be aware that you can do much more than people tell you. Often, when you believe you can do something, you can. Sometimes with a little help.
Also make yourself the norm. When you compare yourself to someone else, take yourself as the starting point and look at what the other person can do more or less than you, rather than measuring yourself against them.
Your body shows your confidence
Your body tells your life story. Your posture shows whether you are weighed down by burdens or standing tall with pride and self-confidence. You are beautiful as you are. When you live healthily, your body is exactly right.
Laugh a lot. When you laugh, you create happiness hormones that heal your body, and you look happier and healthier. Laugh with your eyes too: when you laugh with your eyes, your soul laughs along.
Make it your own:
Be more self confident
Name your worth
Write down what you are good at, what you have achieved and what others appreciate in you. Read it out loud and end with: "I am gold. I am worth gold."
Rewrite an old belief
Choose one sentence you were taught about yourself, such as "I'm not good at that" or "Don't show off." Rewrite it: "I was taught that I can't do this. I can do this. I am going to do this." Say it every day for a week.
Let criticism go back to the sender
When someone criticizes you, ask yourself: "What does this say about them?" Let their words stay with them, and choose what you want to take with you.
Follow your intuition
Make one choice this week based only on your inner knowing. Notice how it feels to trust yourself.
Say "no" with love
Being kind brings a lot, and it only works when you also make your boundaries clear. Saying "no" is allowed. Practice one clear "no" this week, and notice the space it gives you.
Stand tall and laugh
Every morning, stand in front of the mirror, straighten your back, look yourself in the eyes and smile with your eyes. Your body and your soul will remember how confidence feels.
Frequently asked question
How can I build self-confidence as a woman?
Recognize where your insecurity comes from, release the expectations of others, trust your intuition, choose words that strengthen you, set clear boundaries and surround yourself with people who believe in you.
Why do so many women struggle with self-confidence?
Women are often taught to follow and adapt, receive a lot of criticism and are surrounded by impossible beauty and success standards. Insecurity can also be passed on through the female lineage.
How can I stop caring what other people think?
Remember that criticism usually says more about the sender than about you. The more clearly you express who you are and what you stand for, the less other people's opinions affect you.
How do I become more confident quickly?
Stand tall, laugh with your eyes, and say out loud what you want and what you can do. Small daily actions, like one clear "no" or one choice based on your intuition, build confidence step by step.
What is the difference between self-confidence and self-worth?
Self-worth is knowing you are valuable as you are: every woman is worth gold. Self-confidence is trusting yourself to act on that worth, to make choices, set boundaries and follow your path.
Can self-confidence be learned?
Yes. Insecurity was taught to you, so it can be unlearned. Your soul already carries all the talents you need, and self-confidence grows as you reconnect with them.
